When Carla walked through the doors of what was then Rem Optical, little did she know that she was embarking on a career. With a background in insurance sales, she knew she wanted to do something different; sales was not for her. Then, a friend told her about an open position at the company for a receptionist. Carla took a chance and applied for the job; she was hired on the spot. Thus began her journey in the optical industry.

Carla has been with De Rigo Rem for 14 years. She’s held various positions within the company, eager to learn a new piece of the optical business. She found her home within the company in the Customer Service Department, under the direction of Vice President of Customer Service, David Esperanza.

As of this past May, Carla achieved another career transition within the company, as she was promoted to the Director of Key Accounts Customer Service. Carla has been a natural leader in this position and is enjoying learning more about how to support the Key Accounts Department.

“We do so much more than traditional customer service. We are liaisons who communicate across departments to support our customer’s needs. Building relationships and following up are key in this new role, and I excel in these areas. It is what makes me so effective in the role.”

The Directorship role brings new and exciting challenges and benefits that Carla enjoys. She is now involved in customer meetings and finds them key in learning how to support our customers’ needs better. Carla credits the continuous support from Talia Bruno and Stephanie Franke as part of her success, saying that much of her growth in Key Accounts is thanks to these incredible team members. Talia and Stephanie are powerhouse women in the optical field. She is also grateful that this promotion still allows her to devote time to her two children. De Rigo Rem strives to support working caregivers.
